 The Philippine-American War

The following images are a special collection of photos to help us remember those who lost their lives fighting for an independent homeland from their American aggressors. American history has deliberate selective memory in regards to the wars it imposed on other countries, to satisfy their self-serving needs under the disguise of bringing democracy to other nations of our world.

These are photos of the torture and execution of Filipino patriots dubbed as “insurgents” by the first American Visiting Forces on Philippine soil (1899-1913). That U.S. invasion and occupation in 1899 was the original Iraq (and Afghanistan) and the “first Vietnam in Asia”.(see our latest editorial)

These photos of the torture and execution of Filipino patriots were once again replayed in more recent times in Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan and Guantanamo.

The United States’ first “dirty war” in Asia was waged against a newly-established constitutional government in the Philippines from 1899 to 1913. Filipino patriots who tried to defend their homeland from U.S. aggression became “Filipino Insurgents” and “bandits” who were tortured, executed or killed by an invading U.S. Army. Freedom fighters like Macario Sakay were sentenced to death and hanged as criminals and bandits by the U.S. occupation force.
