A 48-hour ultimatum for George W. Bush
George W. Bush must concede to the humanity's collective will for peace and justice lest he will be confined to the dustbins of history.
The last option to stop the war is this: for the UN to disarm the US and the American people to oust Bush in 48 hours.
In order to achieve peace, United Nations must disarm the US in 48 hours before Bush commands his troops to unleash hell on the Iraqi people. Peace will be attained, only by
clipping the wings of the militarist hawks in Pentagon and the White House. The millions in anti-war protests worldwide must serve as a wake-up call and inspiration to the United
Nations.
We likewise call on the American people - especially the working class - to oust Bush in 48 hours. The Bush administration represents not the will of the American public but the
interests of the oligarchs in the oil industry. It follows the lead of the oil monopolies that want control over Iraq's oil - the world's second largest oil reserve.
We demand a different version of pax Americana - a peace that is not paid for in blood by the Iraqi community but by the head of the George W. Bush through popular action of the
Americans.
Hence, the rallying cry of Filipino workers is "Disarm and Oust Bush!" At the outset of the war of aggression on Iraq, we join our fellow workers in Europe and America as they
commence industrial actions for peace.
In solidarity with the international community and the global labor movement, we will launch a walk out at the onset of the war for oil. We will mobilize thousands in municipal
assemblies - foremost of which are the rallies at Bicutan Interchange, Malinta Tollgate and Cubao, which covers the industrial belts of Metro Manila.
This single spark will light the prairie fire. If George W. Bush remains
intransigent on its militarist policy - and the Arroyo administration
continues to be America's lapdog in the region, the Philippine labor
movement would have no other choice than to close ranks in a general work
stoppage.
ADVISORY: At around 5:00 p.m. today, March 18, some 500 workers - along with the urban poor and students - will stage a vigil in front of the US Embassy along Roxas Blvd. in Manila. For details, contact Rene Magtubo
