A RESOLUTION
STRONGLY OPPOSING BALIKATAN EXERCISE OF THE JOINT US MILITARY TROOPS AND THE
ARM FORCES OF THE PHILIPPINES TO BE CONDUCTED IN THE PROVINCE OF BASILAN.
As representative of the people of Basilan,
the proponent brought out to the attention of honorable body for formal
deliberation and consideration the call and voice of most people of the
province on the issue of Balikatan Exercise of the US forces and the AFP
that is to be conducted in the Province of Basilan, which they vehemently
oppose.
During the deliberation and discussion of the
issue, views opinion and suggestion was presented by each member, after
which they agreed to the division of the house, this was approved by
majority votes of 6 members in favor of (t)he resolution, 3 members opposed.
NOW THEREFORE, on motion of Honorable
Abdulmuhmin A. Mujahid, duly seconded by Honorable Moumar L. Muarip, it was;
RESOLVED, as it is hereby resolved, a
resolution strongly opposing Balikatan Exercise of the joint US Military
Troops and the Arm Forces of the Philippines to be conducted in the province
of Basilan.
RESOLVED FURTHER, to forward copies of this
resolution to Her Excellency President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Malacanang,
Manila, House of Senate, House of Representatives, DND Secretary, DFA, NSA,
DILG, Chief of Staff, PNP, SOUTHCOM, US Embassy and other concern agencies,
all of Manila and ARMM, Cotabato City, for their information.
