The author of this article, Oscar Francisco, is a visionary, and social reformer. A former student leader during the First Quarter Storm, he later became a full-time community organizer in Tondo, and other parts of the Philippines, and devoted the latter years of his life organizing peasant communities in Leyte and Samar. In 2009, he was elected party-list representative of the Alliance for Rural Concerns (ARC). He passed away Aug.2010.   

Yonip.com includes this article that he wrote in its collection as a tribute to this outstanding community organizer who dedicated his life to improve the lives of the poor and marginalized , but most of all, to empower their communities and organizations.
