THE FUTILITY OF PAX AMERICANA
"Security is mostly a superstition.
It does not exist in nature,
nor do the children of mean as a whole experience
it.
Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright
exposure.
Life is either a daring adventure, or
nothing.
To keep our faces toward change and
behave like free spirits in the presence of fate is strength
undefeatable."
-Helen
Keller
Let Us Have
Faith(1940)
The U.S. invaders in Iraq are
beginning to learn that trying to govern an occupied territory
is much harder than invading a country utilizing the
superpower's vast superiority in weapons, firepower and
technology. The Roman Legions of the once powerful Roman Empire
learned this too late and were doomed to suffer the fate of
foreign invaders. The foreign infidels were either buried in the
territories that they invaded and occupied, or were soon
defeated, only to retreat in ignominy and humiliation at the
hands of the colonized peoples.
Now, the American invaders of Iraq are learning this day by
day since they occupied the country that was the birthplace of
the oldest civilization. The Iraqi people are making the
American invaders and their foreign mercenaries pay dearly for
killing an estimated 13,000 Iraqis mostly civilians, during the
invasion(according to an American NGO, Project on Defense
Alternatives, 2003). Day by day, the foreign invaders are being
ambushed, hit with sniper fire, their tanks and convoys hit and
disabled without letup by the freedom fighters and forces of
national liberation in Iraq. It seems, the United States has
inflicted upon itself another Vietnam in the 21st century. You,
arrogant invaders cannot impose your system on another country
and system, no matter if you invoke democracy(which you are not
really practicing at home with the Patriot Act), or no matter if
you invoke freedom from weapons of mass destruction(so that you
can monopolize these yourself!), because you are doomed to fail.
Ironically, the liberation fighters of Iraq are referred to
by the US and Western media as "insurgents". As a lesson in
history, this term--insurgents"-- was the same term that
American military occupation forces called Filipino freedom
fighters like General Emilio Aguinaldo, General Miguel Malvar
and Macario Sakay and countless Filipino martyrs and patriots
when the latter heroically fought for the independence of the
Philippine Republic against the new colonial forces of the
United States between 1899-1913.
The US and British occupation forces are now trying to
invite other foreign mercenary armies from Australia, European
Union, Turkey, Poland, Philippines, etc. to share the burdens of
foreign occupation army by enticing them a share in the oil
resources of Iraq which had just been seized from the Iraqi
people and nation, and also a share in the contracts for the
reconstruction of Iraq's water, power, and public works
infrastructure which were destroyed by US and British saturation
bombing. Bush and his warmongers are now frantic in inviting
other countries to share the burden of spending for the damage
caused by the American and British military machine.
There can be no peace in Iraq for as long as American
,British and foreign forces are occupying a once proud nation,
the cradle of civilization. The American people must pressure or
elect out of office their warmongering president so that the
occupation of Iraq is terminated. If not, it will be the Iraqi
people that will terminate the foreign invasion forces that have
desecrated their sacred soil.
It seems that the liberation of Iraq has now begun.
