At least 574 U.S. cities and towns holding Mar 18-20 antiwar events
After two years of pointless destruction and an incredible waste of lives and dollars, the movement in the United States to end the Iraq war is reaching into more communities than it ever has. Below is a list of 574 cities and towns, in all 50 states plus the District of Columbia, that are holding events this weekend to mark the two-year anniversary of the Iraq War. The impressive number and vast geographic spread of these events reflect the growing breadth of the movement to bring the troops home now, which is garnering new support with each passing month. Last year, on the first anniversary of the war, 319 cities and towns across the United States organized events; with listings continuing to pour into our website, we expect that number may double this year.
The list below has been compiled from numerous sources, principally from the United for Peace and Justice events calendar and the anti-war vigil listings of the American Friends Service Committee and Sojourners Magazine. You can also find it on the www.unitedforpeace.org <http://www.unitedforpeace.org> website, where it will be updated daily all week long.
Please, if you know of events that are not represented below, list them on our calendar so we can have the most complete possible compilation of U.S. anti-war events taking place this weekend.
